Apulia

The heel of Italy, a beautiful region directly facing the sea with over eight hundred kilometres of coastline and beaches of incredible beauty. A proud land, contaminated by first Greek and then Roman influence. Annexed to the Kingdom of Naples for centuries under Norman, Swabian and Angevin domination, its monuments are all influenced by these cultures. From the Swabian Castle of Trani to Caste del Monte, from the white city of Ostuni to the fortified walls of Otranto, passing, just over the Irpinian border, to the splendid Matera and its 'Sassi'. This is a region of absolute culinary excellence with such delicacies as orecchiette with turnip tops, Pane Dop di Altamura, burrata and friselle.
